Woody Herman

CD reissue. Woody Herman was an American jazz clarinetist, saxophonist and big band leader. He led various groups called "The Herd". He came to prominence in the late 1930's and was active until his death in 1987. His bands played music that was cutting edge and experimental for it's time. They received numerous Grammy nominations and awards. Children Of Lima was originally issued on Fantasy Records in 1975. It is now making it's worldwide CD debut. The highlight of this album is the 18-minute track Variations On A Scene, recorded with the Huston Symphony Orchestra.
